These services help students, faculty, and staff to communicate and collaborate with others on and off campus. Services in this category include email, calendaring, and other technologies such as video and web conferencing, and productivity tools.

Email
Part of the G Suite for Education core tools, Gmail is the official email for UIC students. UIC Gmail accounts are created for students by default, once a student’s NetID is activated.

Google Chat
Google Chat makes it easy for teams to be able to get their work done in one place. From direct messages to group conversations, Chat helps teams collaborate easily and efficiently.

Cloud Storage
Cloud-based storage is an online system in which a user is allocated storage space on a server and can share files with others over the Internet. Files stored in cloud-based storage can be accessed from nearly any device with an Internet connection. Students have access to Google Drive and Box.

Virtual Collaboration
A collaborative virtual environment and workspace that allows people to work together, regardless of where they are physically located. This involves a combination of document sharing, collaborative editing, and also audio/video conferencing. Students have access to Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

Web Conferencing
Web-Conferencing tools enable students to meet and communicate virtually. Students have access to Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Blackboard Collaborate, and Zoom.
