Personal electronics recycling event

Do you own an outdated laptop, smartphone or other electronic devices that are just gathering dust? Planning, Sustainability and Project Management is collaborating with PCs for People to collect unused personal electronics, which will be refurbished and repurposed for resale to low-resource households and nonprofit organizations.
Accepted items:
- Desktop or laptop computers.
- Phones.
- TVs and monitors >45″ (no CRTs).
- Computer accessories like keyboards, mice or speakers.
- Printers.
- Hard drives and other computer parts.
- Power cords and cables.
- Servers and networking equipment.
- Thumb drives, CDs, small radios.
Not accepted items:
- Household appliances (including microwaves, refrigerators and vacuums).
- Car batteries, CRT (tube) TVs.
- Anything containing chemicals, fossil fuels, biowaste, oil, liquids, powders, asbestos or freon.
All device hard drives will be scrubbed by PCs for People. Questions? Email recycling@uic.edu.
