UIC Security Alerts for Faculty & Staff
UIC Alert, powered by Rave, is a service that enables UIC officials to quickly contact each member of the UIC community in the case of an urgent campus-wide emergency.
Active UIC email addresses are subscribed to UIC Alert automatically and cannot be changed or removed by subscribers. Faculty are strongly encouraged to additionally subscribe their mobile numbers to receive UIC Alert messages by SMS (text message) when timeliness is important. Each user may add up to 3 SMS numbers.
How to Sign Up
When reviewing or updating your password recovery options in the NetID Center, you can subscribe your password recovery SMS mobile number for UIC Alert notifications by checking the box next to “Share this contact information with UIC Alert”.
You may add or update your contact information for UIC Alert at any time at the Rave Mobile Safety UIC site.
Peoria & Rockford Campus Alerts
Students can also subscribe to Peoria and Rockford Campus Alerts in Rave under the “Opt-In Lists” tab. Visit how to subscribe to a UIC Alert regional site notification list.
Your information will be stored securely and will only be used under emergency circumstances or during a system-wide test of UIC Alert. Your mobile phone number will be kept private and not shared with anyone. Mobile phone numbers or wireless email addresses can be added or removed at any time.
There is no charge for this service. However, your mobile service provider and plan may charge you for receiving SMS (text messages), so consult your provider for details. While UIC Alert will normally only be used in the event of an emergency, it may be tested once a semester to make sure it works correctly. You may also receive a text message when you sign up for the service.
