Computational Research Symposium 2025
Computational Research Symposium 2025 – Harnessing AI for Science
Join us for the 2025 Computational Research Symposium on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at UIC Student Center East, 750 S. Halsted, Room 301 (Henley Ballroom). This year’s symposium will highlight how UIC researchers are leveraging cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence, data science, and high-performance computing to accelerate discovery. The symposium will also feature insights into scaling computing capabilities through the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility’s Lighthouse Initiative, as well as opportunities for fostering joint collaborations supported by the UIC/Argonne National Laboratory Crabtree Institute. This event is part of UIC’s Research Week, occurring from April 21 to April 25, 2025.
What is the Computational Research Symposium?

This symposium provides a dynamic platform for the UIC community to learn how advanced computing, computational science, and artificial intelligence are being used to advance research across campus.
This event is co-hosted by the UIC Advanced Cyberinfrastructure for Education and Research (ACER), the George Crabtree Institute for Discovery and Sustainability, and the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF).
Why should I attend?
Whether you’re a student, postdoc, faculty member, or industry professional, this event is your gateway to the cutting edge of computation, data science, and scientific visualization. Join us in this collaborative platform to showcase your research achievements and foster discussions that advance computational understanding and innovation.
In addition to talks from prominent speakers from academia and industry, UIC students and staff will have the opportunity to present their work and compete for cash prizes at the event’s poster session. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees. Registration will be required.
