About
Christopher Kchao comes to us with just over a decade in the accessibility/assistive technology space. As a direct beneficiary and native user of adaptive technology, he has cultivated a passion for creatively harnessing tech to circumvent barriers, and availing others of the same transformative empowerment. Prior to joining UIC, he served as an AT specialist responsible for auditing course content, delivering alternate format materials and training disabled students in the operation of various assistive software and hardware. Additionally, he has provided manual accessibility testing services on a contract basis, consulting on various projects and serving in an advisory capacity, educating stakeholders in accessibility best practices. He has also volunteered as a peer technology coach with the Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library, wherein he instructed patrons who were ineligible for or otherwise underserved by the traditional vocational rehabilitation model.
