Week 5: Encryption

Encryption News Image

In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth was a winding maze inhabited by the Minotaur, a mythical monster. Princess Ariadne had the “key” to help hero Theseus navigate through the maze. By using a spool of thread, Theseus was able to “decode” the maze and find his way in and out safely.

Much like a winding maze, encryption is the process of encoding a message or information in such a way that only authorized parties can access it, keeping unauthorized users out. ACCC offers two supported methods for encrypting university devices: Symantec PGP for Mac OS and managed Microsoft BitLocker (MBAM) for Windows.

Encrypting your university device is essential to ensure all sensitive and high-risk information on the device is unreadable in the event of loss or theft. NOTE that all portable devices in university HIPAA covered components must be encrypted!

You can learn more about our encryption services by visiting:

HIPAA covered components are listed at:

Use encryption, keep your data protected in the maze!
