Technology Solutions’ Day of Service at the Greater Chicago Food Depository

Introduction
On Thursday, July 10th, 2025, Technology Solutions' Day of Service, 30 team members rolled up their sleeves to help sort produce at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The UIC team spent the morning inspecting, sorting, and bagging over 12,000 lbs. of onions! Fortunately, there was no cutting of onions, so no crying was involved.

UIC Gives Back

Beyond the teamwork and jokes, this was about something bigger: showing up for our city and contributing to a stronger, more food-secure Chicago. Our efforts will bring food and end hunger in 4,745 Chicago households!
Volunteering is more than giving time. It’s a reminder that even small acts, like bagging onions, can have a real impact, and reminds us what matters: empathy, action, and the power of collective effort!
We’re proud to be part of a university that encourages service, and grateful to the Greater Chicago Food Depository for the opportunity to support their incredible mission.
