Phishing Email Alert: Job Placement & Student Services

Introduction
UIC's Technology Solutions Security Team is alerting the campus community about a phishing scam currently targeting students with fraudulent job placement emails.
These emails claim to be from the “UIC Office of Job Placement and Student Services”—a fake department—and attempt to trick recipients into engaging with malicious links or attachments. The messages may appear legitimate but are not associated with any official UIC office.
What to Watch For
Scam emails of this nature may:
- Use subject lines that reference job opportunities or career services
- Pretend to be from UIC departments or staff
- Include links, attachments, or prompts to reply with personal information
Be advised that UIC does not operate an “Office of Job Placement and Student Services.” Any email referencing this should be considered suspicious.
