The People Website platform (people.uic.edu) will be decommissioned on May 22, 2025. If you have a website on this platform, it is essential to take action now to save your data or explore alternative hosting solutions.

The People Website platform has been in read-only mode since September 2024, preventing users from adding new content. As part of the decommissioning plan, the platform will be completely shut down on May 22, 2025. After this date, websites hosted on people.uic.edu will no longer be accessible.

The People platform was introduced over a decade ago to provide a secure web development environment and additional space for students, faculty, and staff to host personal content, such as online portfolios, class projects, and faculty profiles. However, with the emergence of more modern, secure, and feature-rich alternatives, maintaining the performance and security of the legacy People platform has become increasingly challenging. To support UIC’s efforts to modernize and streamline web hosting services, Technology Solutions has decided to decommission the platform.
