From Problem to Prototype: Finding Solutions with the Power of AI
Technology Solutions, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), is hosting the UIC Enterprise AI Hackathon, an event bringing together business leaders, tech staff, subject matter experts, and administrators from across the university to transform real operational challenges into practical, AI-powered solutions. Participants will work in cross-functional teams to explore ideas, develop prototypes, and discover new ways to improve how we serve the UIC community.
What is the UIC Enterprise Hackathon?
This event is specifically designed to bring together business leaders, subject matter experts, operational staff, analysts, and technologists to tackle real university challenges using modern AI tools.
Each team will include end users, business experts, project managers, and technical staff working together to solve meaningful campus problems.
Why Participate?
Every department faces challenges that consume time, create manual work, or make it difficult to serve students, faculty, and staff efficiently. Examples might include:
- Streamlining administrative processes
- Improving student services
- Simplifying reporting and data analysis
- Automating repetitive tasks
- Enhancing communication and knowledge sharing
- Improving access to departmental information
University of St. Gallen in Europe hosted a similar workshop in which teams developed working prototypes that addressed real-world healthcare challenges. In a single day, an AI-powered platform was designed that streamlined workflows to improve the gynecology patient experience while reducing administrative burdens for providers.
Who can participate?
You do not need programming experience to participate.
In fact, the most valuable contribution often comes from individuals who understand the business problem, workflow, or customer experience that needs improvement. We encourage participation from:
- IT Staff
- Business Managers
- Administrative Leaders
- Subject Matter Experts
- Operational Staff
Anyone who has identified a process or business challenge that could benefit from a new approach. We invite you to:
- Consider a challenge, inefficiency, or opportunity within your unit.
- Nominate yourself or a member of your team to participate.
- Bring your expertise and ideas. Technology Solutions and AWS will help with the technical implementation.
