Technology Solutions, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), is hosting the UIC Enterprise AI Hackathon, an event bringing together business leaders, subject matter experts, and developers from across the university to transform real operational challenges into practical, AI-powered solutions. Participants will work in cross-functional teams to explore ideas, develop prototypes, and discover new ways to improve how we serve the UIC community.
What is the UIC Enterprise Hackathon?
This event is specifically designed to bring together business leaders, subject matter experts, operational staff, analysts, and technologists to tackle real university challenges using modern AI tools. Each team will include end users, business experts, project managers, and technical staff working together to solve meaningful campus problems.
Why Participate?
Every department faces challenges that consume time, create manual work, or make it difficult to serve students, faculty, and staff efficiently. Examples might include:
- Streamlining administrative processes
- Improving student services
- Simplifying reporting and data analysis
- Automating repetitive tasks
- Enhancing communication and knowledge sharing
- Improving access to departmental information
- Read how AWS helped healthcare innovation at University of St. Gallen in Europe.
How can we participate?
You do not need programming experience to participate. In fact, the most valuable contribution often comes from individuals who understand the business problem, workflow, or customer experience that needs improvement.

What to Expect
During this one-day event, teams will identify a challenge, explore potential AI-enabled solutions, and develop a prototype demonstrating what could be possible.
AWS experts and UIC technology staff will be available throughout the event to provide guidance and technical support. Teams will present their ideas and prototypes at the conclusion of the day.

- Bring your expertise and ideas. Technology Solutions and AWS will help with the technical implementation.
Lunch and transportation to and from campus will be provided.
