Join us for a live look at Equalify Reflow Beta, UIC Technology Solutions Digital Accessibility team’s open-source tool for transforming PDFs into accessible documents, presented by Blake Bertuccelli-Booth, Assistant Director of Digital Accessibility Engineering.
PDF accessibility remains a growing challenge across higher education. Manual remediation can be time intensive, expensive, and difficult to scale as document volumes continue to grow. Equalify Reflow offers a different approach by translating PDF content into Markdown, which can then be mapped more cleanly into accessible HTML.
In this session, attendees will see Reflow in action through a live demo and learn more about the five-stage AI pipeline that reads a PDF, interprets the intended meaning of the content, and rebuilds it as a structured, accessible document. We’ll also discuss how this approach can help reduce the time and cost associated with traditional PDF remediation workflows.
What is Equalify Reflow?

It supports a faster, more scalable approach to document accessibility through a web app, WordPress integration, and API options, helping teams improve access to PDF content while advancing accessibility as a public good.
