Technology is most effective when guided by diverse perspectives and shared priorities. Our leadership and advisory groups bring together stakeholders from across the university to inform decision-making, identify opportunities, and help ensure technology investments and initiatives support the institution's mission.
IT Strategy
IT Leadership Council (ITLC)

The ITLC is the principal advisory group that drives the IT process across the UIC campus. It aims at developing a shared service model that contains the elements of price transparency, service culture, good business process, standardization, continuous improvement, and responsiveness while providing an environment that encourages innovation and leadership in technology at all levels.
IT Directors Council

The IT Directors Council comprises the lead IT staff (generally the Director) from each vice chancellor area, college, and large administrative unit across the university. The council serves as a collaborative forum for discussing strategic technology initiatives, operational priorities, and emerging challenges that impact the campus community. Members share information, coordinate efforts across organizational boundaries, and identify opportunities to improve services, governance, and technology investments. The council also provides a venue for reviewing major projects, evaluating policy and compliance considerations, and aligning local technology needs with institutional goals. Through regular communication and partnership, the group helps ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to delivering technology services across UIC. By bringing together diverse perspectives from throughout the university, the council strengthens decision-making and promotes effective stewardship of technology resources.

ITLC Administrative Applications Committee

The Administrative Applications Committee will works with various university offices to review, evaluate, and make recommendations on IT applications used primarily for administrative functions such as finance, human resources, student information systems, purchasing, business intelligence, and other administrative operations. The committee examines all issues affecting the efficiency and effectiveness of business and administrative processes with a focus on process improvement and decision support services. The committee also considers how to best share data and encourage the use of common business infrastructure, improve the accuracy of data, improve the usability of administrative services, and review other initiatives that increase efficiency.
Digital Accessibility
Digital Accessibility Liasons Group

The UIC Accessibility Liaison Program is an initiative aimed at ensuring that all digital content across the university is accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. This group, representing colleges and other units, will bridge our current Information and Communications Technology policy and the evolving accessibility standards in higher education to address ADA Title II changes. We will create an inclusive digital environment by employing dedicated professionals, known as Accessibility Liaisons, who strive to achieve and maintain high accessibility standards.

ITLC Educational Technologies Committee

The Educational Technologies Committee discusses matters involving information and communication technologies that offer opportunities to transform teaching and to enhance learning at an unprecedented pace. There is an onslaught of new tools and services that campuses, faculty, or students might adopt to improve their educational environment. There, too, is considerable uncertainty about which are effective, whether and when benefits outweigh costs, and how best to harness these opportunities. Learning management systems, content management systems, social media, tools to support peer-to-peer instruction, applications for mobile phones, and services that support online and blended learning all present challenges and opportunities that require expertise to assess. Recommendations about when to invest in services, resources, and faculty development need to be grounded in learner-centered principles and coordinated so they are aligned with educational mission and priorities of the University. The Educational Technologies Committee is charged to advise leadership on ways to advance student engagement and learning through information technology, faculty development and related resource allocation and infrastructure development.

Health Science IT Leadership Committee

The Health Science IT Leadership Committee considers and provides world-class health information technology leadership to transform and sustain UIC Health Science Colleges as global leaders through technology innovation and operational efficiency in support of each of its academic, research, and clinical missions. The Health Sciences IT Leadership Committee acts to align IT to business needs in each of its missions.
The committee also identifies core shared missions and objectives, opportunities for IT Shared Services and alignment, advocates for prioritization of key IT objectives in direct support of Health Science Colleges and serves as a common voice for technology for the Health Sciences. The Committee receives outcomes from the Health Science Dean’s Council related to shared Health Science IT matters and reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT and Health Affairs, as well as having a seat on the IT Leadership Council.

ITLC Research Committee

The Research Committee considers research efforts across the University of Illinois, in a wide variety of disciplines, that increasingly depend on a robust and sustainable research-computing environment. These resources include technical support staffs who work directly with researchers as well as computing resources such as cutting-edge networking, high-performance compute clusters, large-scale data storage, stewardship of data, specialized consulting, and other services. Other support includes improving research administration processes so more grants can be applied for, awarded, and administered with less effort.
